change everything you are
and everything you were

A loud, annoyed sigh was let out as Rylan pushed open the kitchen door. In his mind he could picture his mother standing by the counter, rolling her eyes at his dramatics, even if she was a bit amused by it. He kept a plate carefully balanced in his hand as he let the kitchen door slide out of the other. A frown settled once more onto his expression as he strode across the living room. He wasn't exactly thrilled to be carrying out this order, but his father claimed that Rylan was the only one he could count on to fulfill this. There was no doubt in his mind that Tawnie threw a fit when she was asked. Then again, he could very easily enjoy sweet talking the young girl into informing him of all that she knew. It was those kind of mind games he liked; giving people false hope, false trust. He enjoyed the reactions when people found out it was all a lie. It was simply something he picked up from his father, of course. With the situation that was presented to him, he only assumed that this would be the most fun yet.
His father had managed to capture the daughter of the Italian mob. The idea in itself seemed brilliant to Rylan. All they had to do was make her spill about everything she knew about the rival mafia. Then they would know the secrets, and would have quite the advantage. Tawnie was probably the first choice, since they could 'bond as females', but since he was being asked, she either denied, or they wanted to take his route instead. A young, reasonably attractive male simply sweet talking her into telling him everything. Now he knew it wouldn't be as simple as that; nothing ever was. First they had to make her feel comfortable, considering she had been kidnapped. She was being fed properly, the plate that Rylan was carrying was proof of that. They had allowed her to stay in the guest room, which was wonderfully furnished. This wasn't the first day he was bringing her this meal; he had been doing so for the past couple of days. He made his way slowly up the stairs, taking his time as he headed down the hall to the guest room. As he stopped in front of the door, his hand raised up to fall against the wood; knocking three times. A pause, then he gripped the door handle and pushed open the door.
The knock was just his way of being somewhat kind, to give her a warning that someone was coming in. He might have been the only one to do this, so maybe by now she knew that it was him. However, Rylan would never assume such things out loud unless someone else told him. Nevertheless, his lips were curved into a kind smile; real or fake only he knew. He placed the plate on the table in the room. The table simply had the purpose of being handy for her meals. Despite there being two chairs next to the table, Rylan decided to sit in one of the comfier chairs near the corner. He rested a foot on the opposing knee, and leaned back in the chair; a much more relaxed position than he was taught. “I imagine you're hungry.” He spoke lightly, watching her carefully before raising his gaze to the ceiling. His eyes wandered about the room for a moment, before he spoke again. “Take your time, please. I'm only staying today because we're going to have a pleasant chat afterwards.” The smile he had twitched into a sly looking grin, caused by him just thinking of the conversation's topic. This was either going to be a long day for him, or a very interesting one.
