Jack has been under the name Chris Clampton ever since he started working here at the casino. It wasn’t easy to be juggling two jobs, but he had to kept telling himself that this wasn’t a real job, his real job would always be working as a police office. Although he’s still classified as a rookie cop, he’s far ahead of the other rookies. He was one of the top students back at the academy and he was already shown the ropes his first month of training. This was going to be a very dangerous job nailing the DeLuca family and he knew it going into it. He would always be able to call in for backup. They were very nervous having Jack take on the job, but he knew that he could do this. He wasn’t going to screw up his first case and make it his last. Jack would make a name for himself to being the one that brought down the DeLuca family and put them where they belong, in jail. He was just waiting for that break that he needed. Being brought into the family probably wasn’t going to happen, but he could dream. Right now it was best to continue his job here and made a good impression on everyone he meets. It was only a matter of time before he managed to get some leads and evidence too. Just a waiting game.
The first thing that he thought about when someone told him that Giovanni want to see him was that he was going to offer him a higher paid job. Jack still found himself rather nervous as he made his way through the casino and over toward Giovanni’s office. He tucked his hands in his pants pockets. Why am I so nervous? It’s a raise! Or maybe he was fired. Either it was a raise or he was fired. If he was fired from his job that would mean he let his fellow officers down before he even started. He couldn’t let that happen. He had to pray that it was just a raise. The last thing he needed was for having to figure out another way to find evidence and clues. Working on the inside would be enough to pin them, but it was also more dangerous. No matter what the reason is, Jack has to remain calm and collected.
He stood outside the door for what felt like a minute, just trying to wipe the sweat off his hands and keep his cool. It wasn’t everyday that you meet a mob boss. Jack finally knocked on the door before opening it and stepping into the office. He shut the door behind him and forced himself to smile at him. This was making him extremely nervous, but he tried to not show it. “You wanted to see me, Mr. DeLuca. I’m Chris Clampton. It’s an honor to meet you, Sir.” You’re trying too hard. He’s going to know something is up. Jack walked over to him and held out his hand, which was still covered in sweat despite the fact that he just wiped his hands on his jacket before he came in.

he said. The door opened and Chris was on the other side. "Yes, Chris. Please come in." Giovanni motioned at the chair in front of his desk and leaned back to make himself more comfortable. The boy was obviously nervous, but that could easily be justified. Giovanni was an intimidating person, but he was also the kid's boss. Chris was new. He probably didn't expect to see the boss so soon into the job. Giovanni reached out and shook Chris's hand. It was only the proper thing to do. It would have been rude to leave the kid hanging. Then, he sat back in his seat and just looked at Chris. His eyes were judging the boy's reaction. Was he going to break with the silence? Was he going to feel uncomfortable with him just staring at him like this? If Giovanni was going to invite this kid to work for the family business, he needed to know that he could handle tough situations. Chris didn't look Italian, which might work to his advantage. Anyway that Giovanni could separate himself from his real business was a plus in his book. After five minutes of dead silence, Giovanni thought he had allowed the kid to suffer enough. "So, Chris," he started with his booming voice. "How do you like working at the casino so far? Having a good time? Everything alright so far? How long have you worked for us?" His eyes never left Chris. He was going to judge the boy's facial reaction, his body language, looking for signs that would tell Giovanni he shouldn't give this kid a chance. "Do you have family here?" It was also a good judge of character to know how he got along with his real family. If he got on with his biological family, then the chances of him fitting in with this family were great. [/ul][/blockquote]

Jack glanced over at the chair, but didn’t sit down just yet. He shook Giovanni’s hand as hard as he could. The last thing he wanted was Giovanni to think he’s weak and can’t even give a proper handshake. It was only when he finished shaking his hand did he sit down in the chair and stare back at him. It was strange how silent it became and it was starting to make him rather nervous. He’s testing you. Just stay calm and stare back at him.The blonde thought to himself and he continued to stare back at Giovanni. This should be no problem for him to handle, but it was making him nervous to think that it was possible he was getting fired. I didn’t even do anything wrong. He’s promoting me. Not firing me. It was difficult to reassure himself, but he tried his best to keep calm and collected around him. He couldn’t get himself all worked up over nothing.
The more the room became silent, the more Jack found himself calming down and even starting to make that nervous smile fade away and bring light to a normal smile. The silence was just what he needed to keep himself calm. Jack was a little bit startled by the questions, his eyes went wide for a second. He was sure there was more behind those questions. There had to be more. He didn’t just call him up to see how things were going. At least he didn’t have to worry about being fired and that was enough to make his hands start sweating.
”It’s interesting, Sir. This is my first job and I’m glad to have it. A month, Sir.” He felt like he was over doing it again, but decided that it was good thing he was being so polite. ”Family? Yes. I only have a mom, but we always see each other.” It was probably a bad idea to say this, but he was sure that he wouldn’t mess up and have to worry about them hurting her. [/blockquote]

he answered. "It must be pretty exciting to work at the casino, then. Did you go to college, Chris? Sorry, if you feel like I'm prying into your personal life, but I always thought it was good to know my employees. You may not have a nice office job here, but every employee on my payroll is important to me. It's you guys who keep things running down there, right?" Giovanni smiled as he leaned forward on his desk. A month wasn't a long time to work here, but Giovanni trusted his source. Most kids came in and out of here, working part time. It was something to do during school breaks or between jobs. It was interesting to hear that he was an only child with just a mother. He might be able to work with this relationship. As much as Giovanni loved his daughter, he always wanted to have a son. He always took in surrogate sons, mentoring them, helping them along. "What happened to your father," he asked curiously. Giovanni hated seeing torn family. Especially since he was brought up with such strong family values. So, far, Giovanni liked this kid. No red flags...yet. [/ul][/blockquote]

”College? I don’t have enough money to go to college, Mr. DeLuca.” Jack thought it was very strange to have all these questions. A boss normally doesn’t care this much to know anything about their employee something didn’t feel right here. ”I don’t mind the questions.” He was just trying to figure out why all these questions. He just didn’t know what to really think about it. Was the point that he was called here was just to be asked there? Maybe Giovanni was nervous about him, but why should he be? He didn’t show an ouch of snooping around, even though he was here for that. He was playing it cool and hope to hear something while working without having to snoop.
Dad…telling him he was a police officer would be suicide. I’ll just use his cover story. Chris Clampton had a cover story, just like any other undercover character. ”He…” Jack glanced down at his hands and frowned, avoiding eye contact with Giovanni on purpose. There was two reasons for acting like this, one he wanted to make sure he believed him and two…he really felt this broken up about his father’s passing. Jack finally looked into his eyes again, that frown still on his lips. ”I never met my father. He died shortly before I was born. Drunk driver hit him.” [/blockquote]

Giovanni asked. "I'm new to town so I'm still trying to get to know my way around. I'm originally from New York City. I must say, the West Coast is much different than the East Coast. The culture is definitely different. Have you ever been to New York? Or over in the Northeast area?" There was no record to Chris's name when he looked up the kid. Either Chris was a boy scout, which might make it hard to make him work for him, or he was just very good at avoiding trouble. Giovanni might be able to use someone like that on his team. When he heard about Chris's dad, he couldn't help but feel sadden. "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, Chris," he said honestly. "Some people are just fucking bastards! I lost my wife about five years ago. It was a mugging that went wrong." Giovanni was so good at lying, he didn't have to stop and hesitate anymore. The stories were on the tip of his tongue and he said them as if he truly believed that. Of course, his wife didn't die from a mugging. It was from a drug deal that went wrong, but he couldn't possibly go around telling people that. "Look, Chris, I'm going to cut to the chase." Giovanni could ask the kid all sorts of questions, look him up and down, but at the end of the day, the only way to know if the kid could fit into their business was to just put him out there. "I have a delicate favor to ask you to do for me. You see, it requires you to be the utmost discreet about this. I was told from a very close colleague that you might be the person who will be able to do this for me. Are you willing to do it?" Of course, it wouldn't be anything major. In fact, it wouldn't really require anything dangerous or illegal. He wanted to test the kid, to see if he really could keep his mouth shut and go about without being noticed by anyone. Then, he'll give Chris more tests until Giovanni is satisfied that he could fully come and join the mafia. [/ul][/blockquote]

All these questions appeared as though he was trying to pry information from him. Did he look him up and see that something wasn’t right? Jack was a little bit nervous, but was quick to shrug it off. He had to remain calm or Giovanni might think something was wrong and he couldn’t have him somehow finding out that Chris doesn’t even exist. He couldn’t let himself get fired either and he has to keep himself working in the casino, maybe he really did want to know him better. That was always possible, but it was very strange. ”Since I was born. I grew up here, Mr. DeLuca. New York? No. I’ve only stayed here. I don’t like living my mother to go anywhere. I want to stay put.”
No have no idea. The very thought of his father made him angry just being in the same room as Giovanni, but he knew that he had to stay here. This was all to bring down them down. He couldn’t let himself show he was angry in anyway. ”A mugging? I…I’m very sorry to hear that, Sir. It doesn’t get better over time, does it? I still miss my dad and I didn’t even know him.” He wasn’t sure if that was true or not. No one told him anything about his life, only how much they needed to catch him the act of being a mob boss.
That caught him off guard, but Jack was quick to pick himself back up and nod at him. Maybe his good impressions on everyone was worth it and just maybe…this was the starting of going in deep with the mafia. It was always dangerous for anyone to do this and rookie no less, but he knew how to play it cool and would keep it up. The last thing anyone would find out is that Chris Clampton doesn’t exist. ”Of course, Sir! What do you need me to do?” He could only imagine what it was. [/blockquote]

he said, sighing. "In fact, I actually blame myself for the whole thing. If I didn't ask her to go run an errand for me, should would never have died. We have a daughter and she's taking it a lot harder than me." It was always easy to lie if you weave a bit of truth in it. That way, it's easier to remember the lie when the subject is brought up again. Giovanni did feel guilty because it was his fault. He should never have allowed Andrea to go with him. But, how was he supposed to know that it was going to go down like that. It was supposed to be routine. He had done it plenty of times. It was just bad luck that it happened that one time. Giovanni looked at Chris for a moment. Did that sound too eager? Did he sound scared? Then, he took out a small notepad and wrote two words: "Recruit test." Giovanni ripped the page out of the binding and folded it in quarters. Then, he wrote down an address to someone working for the mafia but had no connection to the hotel or casino. Chances of Chris knowing this man or ever running across him were low. He ripped that page out and handed it to Chris. Then, he handed the note to him. "I need you to deliver the note to the person on that paper. The address is there. Hand him the note and he should give you something in return. Don't read the note, Chris. Like I said I need this to be discreet."Sal should know the routine by now. When Chris gives him the note, he would know that this was Giovanni testing the kid. He might say a few things to scare the kid, shake him up a bit. Then, he'll hand him a bag of money. It wouldn't be big. Just fifty dollars worth of single bills. If the kid nick it, which would be ill advised, Chris would know he could just let it go. Fifty dollars wasn't worth spilled blood. However, if the kid did everything he was told and Sal told Giovanni that the kid did well, then Giovanni was ready to give him the next test. "And, Chris, when you see the person at this address, don't ask too many questions, okay? They don't like too many questions. And, neither do I. Got it?"The Irish knew about Marino. He needed to find a way to get her out without blowing her cover. Sending Chris to give her the message was perfect. He was new so the Irish won't know who he is or have time to do any background search on him. By the time they do, Marino would be out and safe. [/ul][/blockquote]

It was hard for Jack to tell if he was lying or not. He didn’t show any signs of it, but being a mob boss probably meant that lying was something that he did every single day. I have a feeling it really was his fault. He thought to himself, but showed no signs of his thought. Instead he just continued to frown at him. ”I’m sure it wasn’t your fault. You didn’t know anything bad would happen.” It was difficult to show sympathy for someone that he’s heard so many terrible things about. His fellow officers filled him in with everything about DeLuca and he knew by now not to feel sorry for him. It was highly possible that the death of his wife really was his fault, but still he had to be on an act for him. If he didn’t Giovanni would know that something was up.
He wasn’t sure what he was writing on that piece of paper and it was making him a little bit nervous. For all he knew it could read “cop, kill him” on it and he would hand it over only to be killed seconds later. How would he find out that he’s a police officer though? He was very careful about it and that was enough to reassure him that whatever it was that Giovanni was writing it wasn’t a “kill him” written on it. Jack stood from his seat and took the note from him before tucking it into his jacket pocket. I should read the note, but I can’t risk it. If he was being tested somehow and read that note, he ruined his chances of joining the mafia and being to find evidence to put every last one of them behind bars. ”I won’t read it, Sir. You can trust me.” He gave him a very innocent smile as he said this.
Jack turned his back to Giovanni and was about to take his first step when he heard his voice again and looked over his shoulder to see him. ”Yes, Mr. DeLuca.” He nodded at him and started to walk out of his office. When the door shut behind him, Jack took the note from his pocket and read the address on it. He’ll give me something in return? I don’t like the sound of that, but if I screw this up I might never be able to put an end to them. Once again he tucked the note in his pocket and started down the hallway.
It might just be money. I could just be a delivery boy. Whatever it is I can’t screw up. This was for his fellow officers. He had to do this for them. He walked out of the casino and into his car, where he made sure to call the police station. ”Foxx here. I’ve just been given a personal job to hand a letter to someone. No I don’t know what it says. If he finds out I opened it all could be lost. Yes Sir. I know that’s a good idea to open it, but…thank you. I knew it’s risk if he finds out. I’m going to get something in return. I’ll keep you posted.” With that said, he hung up his cell phone and tucked it back into his pocket before starting up the car. This could be a big break in the case and might even lead to evidence.
